Item No.: 120
Extracting forceps Köhler Lower-Jaw wisdom teeth
Description
Both pairs of scissor forceps (No.120 and 121) are ideally suited for extracting lower wisdom teeth. These forceps are designed for extracting wisdom teeth even in cases where the mouth cannot be opened
fully (lockjaw). Both beaks of the wedgebeak forceps (No. 120) are first inserted between the second and third molars and squeezed together exerting limited but adequate pressure. This
raises the tooth and it slides into the hollow in the wedge-beak forceps, which prevents the mandible fracturing. Once the tooth has been loosened and raised, it can be grasped with the
molar forceps (No. 121) and lifted out. If the distal aspect of the wisdom tooth is covered with the bone of the mandibular ramus, this has to be removed first to allow the tooth to be raised.
These forceps are only of limited use in cases with abnormally curved roots or transversely positioned teeth.
